Baseball Game Preview: Jerome Tigers vs. Filer Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Jerome Tigers face off against Filer Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Jerome fell victim to Burley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 10-0. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly ten runs.

Meanwhile, Filer was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-4 to Wood River.

Brayden Cowger was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Westley Billington also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Filer's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Jerome, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Filer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jerome has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. It's a different story for Filer, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Jerome's hitters?

Jerome took their win against Filer in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jerome since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
