Softball Recap: St. Charles East Comes Up Short

St. Charles East dropped their record down to 19-15 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Wheaton-Warrenville South Tigers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Fighting Saints have suffered since April 29th.

Kyli Dunn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Hayden Sujack led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with one home run. Lexi Majkszak was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Wheaton-Warrenville South's side, the team relied heavily on Allie Michalowski, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Caroline Schulz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

St. Charles East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wheaton-Warrenville South, they will take on Plainfield North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
