Football Game Preview: Wasco Tigers vs. Chavez Titans

For the first time this season, Wasco will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chavez Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wasco knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Chavez likes a good challenge.

Things were looking good for Wasco after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 34-33 to Tulare Western. The loss was the Tigers' first of the season.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Hammie Lopez and Preston Seechan. Seechan had a solid game and rushed for 83 yards and one TD. Meanwhile, Lopez was balling out in the loss, rushing for 118 yards and three scores while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Chavez ultimately got the result they hoped for last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 19-16 victory over South. The Titans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The critical scores for Chavez came from Keven Lopez and Jacob Castellanos.

Chavez's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Wasco, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Wasco has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 389 total yards per game. It's a different story for Chavez, though, as they've been averaging only 139.4 total yards. Will Wasco be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Titans flip the script?

Everything came up roses for Wasco against Chavez in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-7 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
