Volleyball Recap: Wellington's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Wellington unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-match winning streak on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smithville Smithies. If the Dukes were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Smithies when the teams met back in October of 2020, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 23-25, 25-10, 25-14.

Sophia Beck paced Wellington's offense, picking up 12 kills. Beck got some help from Courtney Krosse and her 18 assists. Ella Postlethwait controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Wellington's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Smithville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Wellington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Smithville, they will face off against Hillsdale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
