Basketball Recap: Chesaning Takes a Loss

Chesaning lost against Durand back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Chesaning Indians were beaten by the Durand Railroaders 53-26. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while the Railroaders are ranked 237th).

Durand got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylor Carlson out in front who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Carlson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Samantha Leydig was another key player, putting up eight points and five steals.

Chesaning dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Durand, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Looking ahead, Chesaning will square off against Mt. Morris at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Durand, they will take on Beecher at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Beecher has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with 11 straight losses, while Durand will come in with four straight wins.
