Softball Recap: Steele Continues Home Dominance on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Johnson, Steele was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Medina Valley Panthers a 5-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-9 back in February.

Mia Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Perez wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Goodin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Goodin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Steele's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-10. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Medina Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-10.

Steele will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
