Basketball Game Preview: Burlington Seahorses vs. Champlain Valley Union Redhawks

The Burlington Seahorses will challenge the Champlain Valley Union Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burlington knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Champlain Valley Union likes a good challenge.

Burlington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Rice Memorial, who was ranked third at the time (Burlington was ranked first). Burlington enjoyed a cozy 87-71 win over Rice Memorial on Saturday. The Seahorses have beaten the Green Knights the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Green Knights has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Champlain Valley Union had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Bellows Free Academy by a score of 50-42 on Tuesday.

Burlington better focus on containing Jacob Armstrong and Adrian Paliling as the pair were huge in Champlain Valley Union's win. Armstrong went 8-for-10 on his way to 19 points and four steals, while Paliling went 5-for-10 to rack up 16 points. The dominant performance also gave Armstrong a new career-high in shooting accuracy (80%). Alex Jovell was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.

Burlington pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points over those games. As for Champlain Valley Union, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
