Basketball Recap: Lamar Takes a Loss

Lamar came up into this matchup off a tough 40-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Sam Houston Texans by a score of 36-34 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered since January 26, 2024.

Despite the loss, Lamar still got an impressive performance from Dearmondrae Batie, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Dylan Hroch was another key player, putting up five points and eight boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Lamar and nudges their season record down to 7-16. As for Sam Houston, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-14.

Lamar will venture away from home to square off against Arlington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sam Houston, they will host Grand Prairie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
