Basketball Recap: East Catholic Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Southington

On Monday, East Catholic faced Southington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The East Catholic Eagles came up short against the Southington Blue Knights, falling 72-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since February 6, 2024.

Isabella Leggett was her usual excellent self, en route to 21 points and five rebounds for Southington. Leggett's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Lily Cooper, who posted eight points in addition to 12 assists and five boards.

East Catholic's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 21-3. As for Southington, the victory (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 23-1.

As of now, neither East Catholic nor Southington have any future games scheduled.
