Soccer Game Preview: Marquette Catholic vs. Althoff Catholic

Marquette Catholic is 2-7 against Althoff Catholic since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Explorers will head out to face off against the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Monday, Marquette Catholic and Quincy Notre Dame finished up their match with a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Althoff Catholic faced Father McGivney Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Crusaders fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 1-0. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Althoff Catholic couldn't quite close it out.

Marquette Catholic's draw makes their record 2-3-2 this season. As for Althoff Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2-1.

Marquette Catholic beat Althoff Catholic by a goal in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 1-0. Will the Explorers repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
