Basketball Game Preview: Joppa-Maple Grove Rangers vs. Shawnee Redskins

Joppa-Maple Grove is 2-8 against Shawnee since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Joppa-Maple Grove Rangers will face off against the Shawnee Redskins at 6:00 p.m.

Joppa-Maple Grove is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 28th straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cobden.

Despite the defeat, Joppa-Maple Grove saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaylea Anderson went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. Kieran Presser was another key player, putting up four points.

Meanwhile, Shawnee hadn't done well against Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Shawnee secured a 46-40 W over Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton.

Joppa-Maple Grove's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Shawnee, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Joppa-Maple Grove might still be hurting after the 44-21 defeat they got from Shawnee in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Joppa-Maple Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
