Basketball Recap: Burbank's Run of Nine Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Burbank unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Campus Warriors. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in June of 2021.

Burbank lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Michael Butcher, who posted 12 points and eight assists. Butcher is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Terron Tagger was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points.

West Campus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Edmund Michalski out in front who went 5 of 10 en route to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Zach Villanueva, who earned 12 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Burbank's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 14-6. As for West Campus, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Burbank has already played their next contest, a 65-64 defeat against Armijo on the 29th. As for West Campus, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 84-67 win against Johnson on the 29th.
