Baseball Recap: Jones Sets Scoring Season-High Against Evans

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jones). They had just enough and edged out the Evans Trojans 10-8. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Fightin' Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Kenovin Saintfleur made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. Saintfleur was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathaniel Pierre, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Korey Jerelds, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Jones and bumps their season record up to 2-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 13.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.5 in the others. As for Evans, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Jones will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Oak Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th. Evans will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th.
