Baseball Recap: Valparaiso Gets the Win

Valparaiso posted their closest win since May 15, 2024 on Saturday. They skirted past the Greenfield-Central Cougars 5-4.

Kellan Hosek looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Valparaiso saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Crowell, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Crowell has hit this season. Another was Matthew Civanich, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Valparaiso's record now sits at 2-4. As for Greenfield-Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Valparaiso wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-7 victory against Franklin Community on the 19th. As for Greenfield-Central, they have also already played their next game, a 7-6 win against Yorktown on the 22nd.
