Basketball Game Preview: Jensen Beach Falcons vs. Vero Beach Indians

The Jensen Beach Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Vero Beach Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Jensen Beach has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Jensen Beach is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Treasure Coast: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Jensen Beach blew Treasure Coast out of the water with a 64-37 final score. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Jensen Beach's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danielle Bell, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzie Fitzwater, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Jensen Beach smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Vero Beach ended up a good deal behind Cocoa on Tuesday and lost 60-45. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Tigers are ranked 129th).

Despite the defeat, Vero Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ekklesia Anderson went 9 of 18 on her way to 28 points. Anderson's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmyn Morris, who posted three points and 12 rebounds.

Jensen Beach pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Vero Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Jensen Beach took their victory against Vero Beach in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 44-23. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jensen Beach since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
