There's no place like home for La Joya Community, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They breezed past the Copper Canyon Aztecs to the tune of 38-0 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Fighting Lobos needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
La Joya Community found their leader in sophomore Maya Jennings, who picked up a sack, made four total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception which she returned one-yard for a touchdown. Isabel Carrasco made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
La Joya Community didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Carrasco led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself. Jennings got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
La Joya Community's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Copper Canyon, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
