Baseball Game Preview: Rancho Verde Mustangs vs. Miller Rebels

The Rancho Verde Mustangs will square off against the Miller Rebels at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Saturday, Rancho Verde didn't have quite enough to beat Grand Terrace and fell 8-7. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Ethan Montolfo and Julian Dominguez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Montolfo went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Dominguez scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Dominguez a new career-high in doubles (two). David Hernandez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Miller sidestepped Rim of the World for a 6-4 victory.

Ilya Ridge spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Miller's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Quintana, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Nathan Lora, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Miller now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Rancho Verde, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Rancho Verde's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Rancho Verde has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game.
