Basketball Recap: Cj Granados Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cloudcroft

Dexter won the last time they faced Cloudcroft and things went their way on Thursday too. The Dexter Demons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 win over the Cloudcroft Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Demons have posted since January 12, 2024.

Dexter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cj Granados led the charge by going 11 for 25 on his way to 26 points. What's more, Granados also racked up three rebounds, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Matthias Salas was another key player, putting up 13 points along with seven boards and six steals.

Dexter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cloudcroft only pulled down four offensive boards.

Despite the loss, Cloudcroft still got an impressive performance from Rylee Pahl, who went 8 of 17 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyson Thompkins, who posted 11 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Dexter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Cloudcroft, they now have a losing record at 7-8.

Dexter has already played their next match, a 64-44 loss against Hagerman on the 17th. As for Cloudcroft, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-40 win against Loving on the 17th.
