Volleyball Recap: Walton Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Cartersville + How To Watch

Walton faced Cartersville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Raiders fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 2-1. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Walton actually scored more points across those three sets (61-53), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-22, 16-14.

Simone Searles paced Walton's offense, picking up 17 kills. Searles got some help from Janie Myers and her 26 assists. Myers also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Addison Contestabile, racking up three apiece.

Leading Cartersville to victory were Aubree Barrett and Emma Wall. Barrett had ten assists and six digs, while Wall had ten assists. That's the most digs Barrett has posted over her last seven matches.

Walton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Cartersville, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Coincidentally, Walton and Cartersville will both be playing Calhoun the next time they take the court. The Raiders will head out to face the Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Hurricanes will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
