Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Eagles vs. Hanover Area Hawkeyes

The Mountain View Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Hanover Area Hawkeyes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain View has nine straight victories, Hanover Area has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Mountain View was able to grind out a solid win over Blue Ridge, taking the game 8-3.

Hudson Bain spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Josh Miller, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Mountain View is undefeated when Miller posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ziggy Bradford, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, Hanover Area came up short against Tunkhannock on Monday and fell 8-3.

Hanover Area saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Kablick, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hanover Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
