Basketball Recap: South Tahoe Continues Home Dominance on Friday

South Tahoe lost to Hug back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The South Tahoe Vikings took down the Hug Hawks 58-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

South Tahoe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Oscar Mendoza led the charge by going 5 of 9 en route to 15 points along with six steals and five boards. Mendoza has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Bryant, who posted 11 points along with six assists and three steals.

South Tahoe pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Hug, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Tahoe will head out to take on Wooster at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hug, they will venture away from home to challenge Sparks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
