Baseball Recap: Palmetto Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Palmetto can now relate to. They fell just short of the South Dade Buccaneers by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Panthers have struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Maxim Sotolongo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Palmetto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Gordon, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Palmetto's loss dropped their record down to 7-17. As for South Dade, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season.

Palmetto does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Dade, they will face off against Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
