It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Caldwell had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Royal Falcons a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The win (which was Caldwell's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Royal, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Caldwell beat Royal by a score of 10-0 on Friday.
