Softball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Fort White's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Fort White can now relate to. They fell just short of the Branford Buccaneers by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The Indians' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Kadence Compton was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.

Compton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Stone, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.

Fort White's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Branford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-6.

As of now, neither Fort White nor the Buccaneers have any future games scheduled.
