Basketball Recap: Avon Comes Up Short

Avon lost against Centerville back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Avon Pirates had to suffer through a 59-26 loss at the hands of the Centerville Tornadoes. The game marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Avon and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Centerville, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Avon will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Irene/Wakonda at 6:30 p.m. on December 30th. Centerville will take on Vermillion in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Centerville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Vermillion likes a good challenge.
