Volleyball Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Oxford lost against Waterbury Career Academy back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wolverines fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 3-2. While the Wolverines didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 25-21 in the first set.

Oxford wouldn't go down easily and took Waterbury Career Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-14, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12.

Despite the loss, Oxford still got an impressive performance from Vangie Magera, who had 30 digs and three assists. Magera has been hot recently, having posted 29 or more digs the last three times she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Oxford and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Waterbury Career Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oxford is set to challenge their familiar foe St. Paul Catholic at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Waterbury Career Academy will take on rival Torrington at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
