Basketball Recap: Cloverleaf Takes a Loss

Cloverleaf entered their match against Field on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cloverleaf Colts were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 44-43 to the Field Falcons. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Colts came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Falcons are ranked 259th).

Despite the loss, Cloverleaf still got an impressive performance from Evie Barth, who posted 18 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Barth a new career-high in blocks (two). Kinsey Bayer was another key player, putting up five points.

It was another big night for Delilah Rahe, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds for Field. Rahe has been hot, having posted nine or more boards the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Jacobs, who had eight points and eight rebounds.

Cloverleaf's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-1. As for Field, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cloverleaf will host Holy Name at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. As for Field, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Streetsboro at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
