Football Recap: Prospect Ridge Academy Miners vs. Forge Christian Fury
Prospect Ridge Academy entered their contest against Forge Christian on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Miners took a blow against the Fury, falling 49-21. The Miners were not able to make up for their defeat to the Fury from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emerson Mallon, who threw for 285 yards and three TDs. A healthy portion of that aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Toby Barnett, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Forge Christian had a senior duo take command as Quentin Torres gained 151 total yards and three touchdowns and Treysen Eye picked up 175 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Eye was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 67 yards.
The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Forge Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Coming up, Prospect Ridge Academy will head out on the road to square off against Platte Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on the 11th. The Miners will be up against the Huskies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Forge Christian, they will welcome Flatirons Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
