Baseball Recap: Schaeffer Academy Lions vs. Houston Hurricanes
Schaeffer Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They lost 19-2 to the Houston Hurricanes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.
Schaeffer Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Boldt, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Houston, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Houston's side, Archer Semling and Dawson Pedretti made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Semling tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Pedretti tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Semling got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Pedretti got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Morgan Rohweder was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Houston is 3-1 when Rohweder posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Coltin Groth, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Schaeffer Academy has already played their next contest, a 24-0 defeat against Lyle/Pacelli on the 8th. As for Houston, they will square off against Spring Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
