Preview: Smyrna Eagles vs. Decatur Seahawks
Smyrna has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Smyrna Eagles and the Decatur Seahawks will round out the year against one another at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday at. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Smyrna faced Caravel in a battle between two of the state's top teams. It was close, but Smyrna ultimately received the gift of a 38-35 win from a begrudging Eaglessquad.
Meanwhile, Decatur put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Arcadia with a sharp 74-53 victory. Decatur might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Decatur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Careen Bolden led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 22 rebounds.
Smyrna's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Decatur, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
