Softball Game Preview: Berkner Rams vs. MacArthur Cardinals

For the second straight game, Berkner will face off against MacArthur. Berkner will look to defend their home field on Friday against MacArthur at 7:00 p.m.

Berkner is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on MacArthur with a sharp 22-7 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Rams' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Maehle Lawerence made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Berkner let Annabelle Finch and Lily Morgan Williams run wild. Finch got on base in all six of her plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Morgan Williams went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those five hits gave Morgan Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jasmyne Bell, who went 2-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.

Berkner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

MacArthur is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11-1. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Berkner, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16.
