Softball Recap: Andrean Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Andrean won the last time they faced Highland and things went their way on Monday too. The Fighting 59ers blew past the Trojans 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Fighting 59ers, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Sadie Drousias was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddy McCoy, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Hite, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Andrean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted a batting average of .200.

The victory was the third in a row for Andrean, bringing their record up to 14-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-8 record.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Andrean will challenge rival Hanover Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Highland is set to square off against their familiar foe Munster at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
