Basketball Recap: Kennedy Beats Dakota Ridge for Their Third Straight Win

Kennedy entered their tilt with Dakota Ridge on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 29-26 victory over the Dakota Ridge Eagles. The 29-point effort marked the Commanders' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Kennedy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aleeyah Garcia out in front who posted nine points and three steals. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Keana Venegas-Alvarez was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Despite the loss, Dakota Ridge still got an impressive performance from Darian Lewis, who earned 11 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Barbic, who scored six points.

Kennedy pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.3 points per game. As for Dakota Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Kennedy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-11 win against Rocky Mountain Prep SMART on the 17th. Dakota Ridge has also already played their next game, a 52-47 victory against Eagle Valley on the 18th.
