Softball Recap: Modoc Drops Season-High Score on Fall River

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Modoc). They blew past the Fall River Bulldogs 26-6 on Friday. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Caelli DePaul made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Aaliyah Sevilla was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Aubree Knighton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Modoc kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 12.6.

Modoc picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 6-8. As for Fall River, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Modoc will take on Mazama at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fall River, they will face off against Trinity at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
