Centennial had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Mayfield Trojans on Thursday. The victory was just business as usual for the Hawks, who after 28 games remain undefeated this season.

Destiny Perez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Centennial got a massive performance out of Addie Moccia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Brooklyn Milam was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.

Centennial pushed their record up to 28-0 with the win, which was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.1 runs thus far. As for Mayfield, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 21-7 record.

Centennial and Mayfield are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Hawks will challenge La Cueva at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 23rd straight victory, something Centennial surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mayfield, they will face off against Las Cruces at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldawgs have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
