Baseball Recap: La Puente Comes Up Short

La Puente extended their losing streak to six on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. They came up short against the Excelsior Charter Eagles, falling 11-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 16-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

As for Excelsior Charter, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games.

For Excelsior Charter's part, the team relied heavily on Sebastian Perez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Perez also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Erik Rodriguez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

La Puente didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-2 loss against Webb on the 19th. As for Excelsior Charter, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rim of the World at 3:00 p.m. on the 27th.
