Basketball Game Preview: First Baptist Christian Academy Crusaders vs. Florida School for the Deaf & Blind Dragons

First Baptist Christian Academy will head into Monday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 27-point drubbing they dealt Global Outreach Charter Academy on Monday. First Baptist Christian Academy really took it to Global Outreach Charter Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-21 win. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Kodiaks are ranked 580th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Baptist Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julia (Jay) Rose, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Rose is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Sanigh Armeaud was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 boards and ten steals.

First Baptist Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Florida School for the Deaf & Blind had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they went ahead and made it four last Saturday. They snuck past the Rangers with a 41-37 victory. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly four points.

First Baptist Christian Academy pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Florida School for the Deaf & Blind, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.

First Baptist Christian Academy came up short against Florida School for the Deaf & Blind in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 51-41. Can First Baptist Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
