Basketball Recap: Atchison County Tigers vs. Oskaloosa Bears
Atchison County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 23rd straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 66-33 loss at the hands of the Oskaloosa Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 71-31 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.
Oskaloosa found their leader in sophomore Derrick Harvey, who went 11 of 13 on his way to 25 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Harvey is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Tanner Haynes, who went 5 for 8 en route to 14 points.
Atchison County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Oskaloosa, they moved to 2-7 with that win, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
Atchison County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Horton on February 7th. As for Oskaloosa, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-26 defeat against Jefferson West on the 21st.
