Basketball Recap: Mt. Zion Takes a Loss

Mt. Zion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. The match between them and the North Clayton Eagles didn't end well, with the Mt. Zion Bulldogs falling 52-37. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-38 back in January.

Defeat or not, Mt. Zion got some senior leadership from Jaylon Sankey and Milton Dowdy. Sankey posted 14 points, while Dowdy scored 11 points. Those 11 points set a new season-high mark for Dowdy.

North Clayton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dallas Fisher, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Carnell Kelly, who put up 12 points.

Mt. Zion's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for North Clayton, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Mt. Zion has already played their next game, a 74-53 defeat against Riverdale on the 4th. As for North Clayton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 74-58 loss against Douglass on the 1st.
