Basketball Recap: Thomas Stone Takes a Loss

Thomas Stone lost against Great Mills back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Thomas Stone Cougars were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 34-33 to the Great Mills Hornets.

Despite the loss, Thomas Stone had strong showings from Malaiyah Johnson, who posted seven points in addition to 11 boards and three steals, and Heaven Coles, who put up six points along with six rebounds and three steals. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Thomas Stone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

ABRIL ESPARZA was her usual excellent self, putting up eight points along with nine boards and four steals for Great Mills.

Thomas Stone's record is now 4-4. As for Great Mills, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Thomas Stone wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 48-37 defeat against Huntingtown on the 15th. Great Mills has also already played their next game, a 50-27 loss against Northern on the 16th.
