Baseball Recap: Dock Mennonite Has No Trouble Against Jenkintown

Dock Mennonite had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Jenkintown on Tuesday. The Pioneers blew past the Drakes 16-0. The matchup marked the Pioneers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

James Steinmetz was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Steinmetz was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jasiah Stachelek was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Luke Burleigh was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

Dock Mennonite was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in four consecutive games.

Dock Mennonite pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Jenkintown, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Dock Mennonite and Jenkintown will both be playing Valley Forge Military Academy the next time they take the field. The Drakes will host the Trojans at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, while the Pioneers will host them at 3:45 p.m. on the 22nd.
