Soccer Game Preview: Madison vs. Polk County

Madison hasn't had much luck against Polk County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Patriots will look to defend their home pitch against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Madison's offense. They came up short against Hendersonville on Wednesday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Madison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 506th, while Hendersonville are ranked 234th).

Meanwhile, Polk County got the win against Mountain Heritage on Wednesday by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for Polk County, who have now won seven contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Mountain Heritage from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Cooper Meyer led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Polk County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-0-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 38 goals over those eight matches. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13-1.
