Softball Recap: South Putnam Eagles vs. Sullivan Golden Arrows

South Putnam lost against Sullivan back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The South Putnam Eagles took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sullivan Golden Arrows. South Putnam has not had much luck with Sullivan recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Madison Carpenter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Danae Cline was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

On Sullivan's side, Jaylynn Hobbs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Hobbs was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Hobbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kate Ridgway, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and a triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Kensley Wiltermood, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and a double.

South Putnam now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Sullivan, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Putnam will take on Northview at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview is coming into the game with five straight victories on the road, so South Putnam will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Sullivan, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Cloverdale at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
