Basketball Recap: Cherry Creek Falls Short Against Ranked Mountain Vista + How To Watch

Cherry Creek faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bruins fell 62-50 to the Golden Eagles. The game marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Cherry Creek's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Montae Johnson, who posted 16 points. Johnson's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Kayden Patrick, who went 5-for-9 en route to 12 points.

Oliver Junker had another great game (as he tends to do), dropping a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Mountain Vista. Junker has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Nichols, who earned 11 points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cherry Creek fell to 6-1. As for Mountain Vista, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.

Cherry Creek and Mountain Vista will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bruins see the court they'll take on ThunderRidge at 2:30 p.m. on January 3, 2026. As for Mountain Vista, their break will end when they face Doherty at 3:00 p.m. on January 3, 2026.
