Basketball Recap: Ixion Toro's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty over Gateway

Liberty has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 68-51 fall against the Gateway Panthers on Monday. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 52-50.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ixion Toro, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Tasir Best was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Liberty's record is now 10-3. As for Gateway, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-48 win against Celebration on the 15th. Gateway has also already played their next game, a 42-39 defeat against St. Cloud on the 15th.
