Basketball Game Preview: Hampden Broncos vs. Skowhegan River Hawks

The Hampden Broncos will face off against the Skowhegan River Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Skowhegan is hoping to do what Gardiner couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Hampden's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Hampden secured a 59-54 W over Gardiner.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skowhegan). They breezed by Mt. Blue to the tune of 69-25 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Hampden's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.1 points per game. As for Skowhegan, their win bumped their record up to 4-8.

Hampden was able to grind out a solid victory over Skowhegan in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 39-29. Does Hampden have another victory up their sleeve, or will Skowhegan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
