Softball Recap: Bishop Carroll Beats Washburn Rural for Their Third Straight Win

Bishop Carroll had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Washburn Rural Blues. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 on Wednesday.

Allyson Orth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Orth was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Stroot, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Natalie Thimmesch also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Bishop Carroll pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Washburn Rural, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Bishop Carroll and Washburn Rural will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Golden Eagles will challenge rival East at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Washburn Rural is set to square off against their familiar foe Emporia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
