Basketball Recap: Hugo Takes a Loss

After flying high against Star-Spencer last Saturday, Hugo came back down to earth. The Hugo Buffaloes lost 79-55 to the Madill Wildcats on Tuesday. The Buffaloes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-17.

Madill found their leader in freshman Elexis Holmes, who went 12 for 18 en route to 27 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Holmes has scored at least a third of Madill's points. Another player making a difference was E'Niyah Holmes, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 16 points.

Hugo has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Madill, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Hugo has already played their next match (against Idabel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Madill has already played their next contest, a 61-10 win against Durant on the 23rd.
