Basketball Game Preview: Milford Tigers vs. Valley Buffalos

Milford is 2-8 against Valley since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 1:00 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

Milford easily dispatched Escalante on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Milford fell just short of Piute by a score of 66-63 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (61), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Milford might have lost, but man, Sadler Barnes was a machine: he almost dropped a double-double with 35 points and nine assists. Barnes' afternoon made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kason Kesler, who went 6-for-8 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Valley suffered their closest defeat since December 18, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Panguitch by a score of 50-47.

Milford's loss dropped their record down to 19-4. As for Valley, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Milford skirted past Valley 61-58 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Will Milford repeat their success, or does Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
