Softball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

Elkin extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-11. They came up short against the North Iredell Raiders, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-0 back in March.

As for North Iredell, they now have a winning record of 7-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

For North Iredell's part, Kynlie Moss made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Moss has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Chelsea Patton was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Mia Curlee was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI.

Elkin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against West Wilkes on the 10th. As for North Iredell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 12-2 victory against West Iredell on the 10th.
